Melissa  Walter - Artist  Statement

​My experience working with NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics has inspired me to visually articulate wonders of the Universe, such as black holes, supernovas, neutron stars, dark matter and more, recently, dark energy. I translate and materialize the intangible knowledge of the Universe into an aesthetic physical reality for a personal experience whether it be an interactive sound installation, a large-scale paper sculpture, or a meticulously hand-embossed illustration.
