Helen Powell​ - Biography

​Sparkles from the Earth

I am a local person who works with metal and beads to design and make jewelry. I started my jewelry work in 2005 in Maryland but now live here in the San Diego area. 

I like to work with natural stones, Swarovski crystals and pearls, as well as with fresh water pearls and glass beads. The metals are either Sterling Silver or 14 Karat Gold-filled metal. If the stone or bead sparkles, that is especially intriguing. Varying the types of jewelry keeps it interesting and challenging for me, so there is a wide variety of styles and techniques in my work. My handcrafted pieces are an assortment of classic, timeless, and creative styles.

Continuing to learn new techniques and styles of jewelry is something that I hope to continue to do. It is fascinating to see all the different stones and all the colors that natural stones can be. The colors in nature give me inspiration for my pieces. It brings me joy to put together stones, pearls, crystals, and metals in an artistic way that is enjoyed by others.
