COGNITION – IMAGES OF THE MIND

​La Playa Gallery will open a new exhibition featuring artists Cary Griffiths, Suzanne Budd and Albert Powell on view from Wednesday, May 11 until Friday, June 24. The show, “Cognition, Images of the Mind,” will feature works inspired by the free-flowing nature of line and color to calm and excite the observer.

Abstract paintings speak a language of color and forms to express thoughts and emotions. By focusing on formal quality over representation, the minimalist aesthetic can impact the human capacity to sense both balance and conflict using lines and shapes. Swirls of pigment, which drift from reality into non-objective emotional responses, are capable of triggering memories and enhanced insightfulness which metabolize unique human intelligence formations. Such is the power of shape, line and color.
