(FEB 23, 2018 – MARCH 19, 2018)
La Playa Gallery presents a new art exhibition entitled “San Diego Inspired” – a solo show featuring Maureen Blackhall.
This is a solo show entitled, “San Diego Inspired,” presents a group of oil paintings which exemplify back-country, beach and city settings and seascapes throughout San Diego County. The reception will be Friday, February 23, 2018, and run from 5-8 p.m.
About the Artist: Maureen Blackhall has become one of San Diego’s most-followed popular local artists. Her pieces hang in the homes of some of San Diego’s finest private collections. Her inspiration started early. She’s been painting for over 25 years. She grew up painting. Her mother and father were painters. Her niece is an accomplished painter. In fact, it was her niece who introduced little Maureen to oils. Once she learned how oils could tell a colorful story she was hooked.
Maureen’s love of light and shadow, sand and sea, contrasting color and values and of depth of field evoke the emotion of a local’s sensitivity to San Diego. The elusive capture of shadow on sand, of ocean waves against rock and of scattered pathways are all hallmarks of Blackhall’s.
